Glimpses of City 2.0

Based on a quotation by Bernard Baissait, “We are already in the City 2.0″, Naty and I decided to create a quirky video on that topic, highlighting our ironic point of view.

We’d like to thank Julien Ranjard who accepted to lend us his Canon Eos 5D, and of course all of our friends who participated in the making of this film.

One more thing : whatch it until the end !

Buh-Bye ! (or, a happy Mayday, in every desperate and super shitty situation)

This is a video I made as a teaser for my thesis : Buh-Bye (or Mayday…), the Suicide Guide ! Coming soon June 2010. Your questions and deep-rooted problems will find their answers and solutions ! I was inspired by the famous monologue extracted from the play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand and also Ikea instructions. nin

Amoras, Glorias et Beautas (Amour, Gloire et Beauté) - Beauty State(ment)s

How can oneself define the complex and highly subjective concept of beauty ? It is formed by youth, context, others’ look… Instead of giving you our perception, Naty and I followed the energy and thoughts, neurotic connections of different people that don’t speak out loud. Typography is here to express their statements, their state of beauty and reveal their points of view.

Dynamic, moving, poetic, natural, divine… follow these different states through our Videos.

Of course, there are not only videos… but a whole bunch of photos as well (they will come soon, promise !). Photographs show how beauties are actually all linked together, interwoven… That’s why the characters wear more than just one accessory, standing for one of the beauties.

Here’s a glimpse of our two favourite videos ! (if you can’t wait for the others to be uploaded, please check them out on you tube ! All you have to do is search for “Beauty state(ment)s“). nin & naty

And here’s a preview of some of the photographs we’ve made ! Yeah… hum…we like costumes and acting ! High quality images will definitely come later. Please be patient.

Anniversary

As you may all know, last November was the 20th Anniversary of the Berlin wall fall. Inspired by sequences from the movie Der Himmel uber Berlin, Naty and I decided to pay tribute to people who had a dream : cross the frontier… nin & naty

Family business

Here come the thanks. To all the family members of the Meeus tribe, who happened to be great posers too by the way. The first portrait is the little sister Pauline, and Grandma Mane (that you can also see with her brother in a previous post) comes in second. And we’re also thanking Patrick, France and Max for their precious help while setting the different scenes. nin & naty

L.A.

Les Andelys. That’s the new L.A., the new French hip place to be to take photographs. Picture an old castle, the river Seine, the light the impressionists adored so much. There you are. In a grandma’s house, filled with memories and ancient costumes, treasures of the family’s past. And then, play on, mix things up. Surprise yourself. nin & naty

meeus_jennifer_radio_1_blog1

After finding this very old but funky-looking radio, an idea came up. Showing the moment when The General Charles de Gaulle was in London, on June 18th, 1940, and decided to give a little speech on the BBC.

I saw a documentary on tv one night. it was about Bulgary and its orphans. They’re know as the the country with the highest number of abandonned children…

Mouahaha

“Mouahaha” is a book project on “Le Rire” (translation : ). Picking up expressions using that word and creating 3D illustrations with symbols were the goals. Here are a few photographs of the work in the progress, done with school partners Mathilde Formagne and Julia Revol. I’ll soon post the pictures of the book! nin

Hunting

I made a quick trip to the Paris hunting museum, located rue des Archives in the neighborhood called “Le Marais”. Worth the trip. On this journey, I discovered a wooden box. Took a look on what was inside : a hen. One single hen, four mirrors, reflecting it in every direction, creating this endless hen effect. It made me remember of all this nazi organisation during WWII… But for this last part, I’m letting you judge. nin

“Mananava 1922″ J.M.G Le Clézio

This is a book I’ve made last year, and I just found the shots showing the typographic work. Mananava 1922 is a short story, written by J.M.G Le Clézio, about nature, indians, and most of all two human beings all on edge, at the threshold of a war… Calm and more dynamic moments follow one another. Hence the alternation in compositions. nin
